ATI capture card codec. Like I263,
VCRx was
brought into ABME by a capper who did not realize he was posting in a
propertaryy
codec. And like I263, it is possible to load the codecs into your
Windows
system. VCR1 is based on the YUV9 encoding system. The hack is to the
right,
since it would appear the ATI offical playback codec has been removed
(or
moved) from their site. |

VCR2
|
vidc:vcr2 |
VCR2 uses the YUV12 plannar encoding
structure.
Codec used by some ATI TV-PC products up to and including the current
Radon
series. The hack is to the right, since it would appear the ATI
offical
playback codec has been removed (or moved) from their site. |

Video1 -- better known as the Raw
format.
Raw is the more or less the first
compressed
AVI codec shipped with Video For Windows. Deals with 8bpp and 16bpp
images |

On2 Technologies pre-release build of VpVision(tm), their
first
try (after buying up serveral other codec projects) at open-source. Has
a strong "family" link to the Duck True Motion codec they aquirred in
2000.
The test clip is slightly larger than our standard size as required by
the codec, and while the codec is described as being 3.2.5, the 4cc
says
3.1.
Warning and information for those of you with nVidia GTS
cards.
At this time it appears that the current version codec and those cards
have driver conflicts that may cause a "blocky" or "pixelated" effect.
Install the exsisting codec FIRST. Only after seeing the pixel
artifacts
jumping around the screen on playback download the "Patch". This
revised
dll is for windows OS, and should be used ONLY by nvidia card Thanks go
out to leralph and On2 for their speedy work on this one. |

1st, I must acknowledge horny german, who is
currently
the bestest, mostest go-getter / finder / tester in the binary groups.
For those viewing, this codec comes with none of the hassles of divx5.
For those capping / ripping / compressing, my own experiments would
indicate
that Xvid has a better and more controllable interface for both
constant
bit rate (mpeg-like) and variable bit rate compression's.
As a side note, This seems the best place to bring up
FFDShow filters.
A real sweet solution for playback problems which allows you to
playback
xvid and any divx encoded movie (3,4,5) without having the codec
installed
on your PC. After the setup you can configure ffdschow very easily.
